Explain your role in supporting care routines.

All children and babies need adults to take care of them and show them how to develop their personal care. And as the care providers we also need to work in partnership with their parents and carers to follow routines the child is use to at home. It is expected that with time the child will learn how to do their own personal care e.g. washing hands.
Within the early years setting there will be both policies and procedure that must be met to ensure the personal care of children are met at all times

Nappy Changing:
When supporting a child with nappy changing we must ensure that the changing room is clean and the things to use are also clean, such as, spare clothes, nappies. We must wash our hands before and after nappy changing, wear disposable gloves and aprons while changing a nappy and dispose them correctly. We only use the barrier cream if supplied by parents or carers, and wet nappies must be changed as soon as possible. If red patches are noticed on the child we need to inform the supervisor who will talk this over with parents.
