Explain your role in supporting the needs of children during transitions and significant life events.

I will need to make sure the child understands about moving to reception and leaving the setting. Ways I can support them at this time is talk about the school they will be going to, and all the fun things they will be able to do at the school. Also if the child has a visit to the school they will be able to see it and feel comfortable. And most schools send out the teachers to meet the children so they have a friendly face when they start.

The support I will need to give for a child starting and moving through the setting is, a trusted bonding so the child becomes settled after some time. Visit them at home before they start and then comfort them once they start after leaving their home environment. And when they transition from one room to the next, help them and reassure them they will be fine and have fun in their new class and make lots of friends. Also introduce them to their new key worker so they know when they first start.
