As much as we plan and have routines in place for the children within our settings, sometimes there are moments when we have to preform non-routine physical care with children. A sick child will require different care than a well child, a child may come down sick while attending the setting and if that’s the case we must follow the procedures for a sick child. In most cases the parents/carers will be notified to collect their child and they need to stay at home until they are well again.
The child’s key worker may take them to a quite area and sit with them and make them comfortable. If they wish to sleep then they should be allowed and if in the case of a fever or you had to wipe them down with a cloth then no other child should use it until it’s washed properly.
