Many researchers have studied and researched different emotional wellbeing in children, and they all believed that children needs to feel cared for, loved and looked after by a parent or carer, and if these care are given rightly it will help the child develop self-esteem, interpersonal skills that will help them throughout their life.

John Bowlby (1907 – 1990) who was a psychoanalyst has theories that early childhood might have attributed to mental health and behavioural problems with children. He believed that children are born with feelings of being attached to people to help them survive. With his research Bowlby believed that a child will need at least the first 2 years of their life with the primary caregiver (mother) .
